Heya, long time no post! Here's a little storyboard I did for my portfolio a little while ago. It's about a man and his moustache and a supernatural occurrence involving his stache. I envision it to be a scene out of a movie where this man first discovers his mysterious power... ooo. Hope you enjoy it!

Some illustrations inspired by Vancouver's autumn. Actually if they were truly inspired by Vancouver's autumn there'd be a lot more rain and dreariness illustrated, so maybe just a more romanticized version of Vancouver's fall.

So, I don't have a camera anymore so I had to take these the ghetto way and take them with my built in imac camera.

I'm currently taking a fashion illustration course at Emily Carr and these are some rough in drawings I did of some current designers' work. The top one's an Alexander McQueen piece and the other is Etro. I've never heard of Etro before and don't know how to pronounce it... I'm guessing alot like 'Petro' station minus the P.

So I hope you likes. I've got another assignment coming up where I have to use some colour so if it turns out ok I'll probably post it.

I normally work relatively clean but, once in a while my roughs get pretty darn ugly. Especially when I don't know exactly what I'm going for yet. Anyway, here's the rough of that coloured drawing below. It's pretty messy but I kind of like the way it turned out.

Ink Experiments

Here are some 3rd day attempts at using ink. Hope y'all likes. I'm pretty happy with them but I still would like to move away from my current animation-y style. Hopefully over the next few months you'll see a bit of an evolution here.

Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I've been both a combination of busy and lazy... but I've decided to become more disciplined with my posting, so hopefully you'll see plenty of new material over the coming months.

Hope you guys like. There are a few things that still kind of bug me about this piece but I figure it's good enough post.

I got a request from a couple of female co-workers a while ago to draw some more men in their underwear. One of them said the first few drawings I did made her laugh... the other said they were kind of hot. They also said that I should do an entire book full of men in their underwear. I said that might be a little excessive... but one coloured drawing wouldn't hurt.

I happen to be a big fan of the hipster/indie rocker look. I would actually be sporting this look as opposed to my current one if it weren't for the fact that I would feel obliged to listen to a lot more indie rock. Not that I don't like indie rock. If you were to scan my ipod you'd find I listen to quite a range of music. The only thing is I'd feel too much like a poser if I were to listen to anything else but - like the soundtrack to the Sound of Music, for example. Not that you'd find that on my Ipod (ahem, shutup, Colin).

Anyway, here are some drawings of some pretty, darn, young & hip people who I bet, if actually existed, would all listen to indie rock - and absolutely nothing else.

I just realized I went on a big rant in the previous post and didn't actually get around to explaining the picture that I posted. Both this drawing and one in the previous post were promo pieces done for 'Titans'. Niether ended up being used but I kind of liked how they turned out so I figured I might as well take a stab at colouring them. I'm not much of a painter but I think it does the job.

I'm in the process of colouring this one featuring the 'bad' guys. Well... actually I've been in the process of colouring them for about 6 months now.

If there's one thing you'll learn about me from this blog is that I'm lazy... big time.

So, I'll post the coloured version when I get it done. Just give me another 6 months.

Titans!

So just to fill you in, over the past few years (on and off) I'd been working on a show called 'Class of the Titans' - first as the lead character designer on its first season then as a storyboard artist on the second. I've also had the priviledge of being around during its development stage where I got to help figure out a look for the show, so I'd pretty much been around to see Titans grow from just a tiny little concept on a piece of paper to the full coloured series that eventually aired on TV. It was at once an exciting, frustrating and rewarding experience and needless to say, though the original concept wasn't my own, it was a project that ended up being quite close to me.

(gawd, this post is so serious...)

Anyway, upon hearing the news that there would most likely not be a third season I felt a little tinge of sadness. (Yes... for those of you who know me from the studio - 'sadness'). Titans may have broke me once... or twice... or perhaps, ahem, thrice... and then caused me to flee not only the studio but the country for a good ten months, but I'm still sad to see it go.

So, anyway, as a gesture of goodwill to the show that pretty much defined most of my career as an animator, I dedicate my first blog post to it.

Titans... this one's for you.
